The Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has finally reacted to the story that the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, won his state (Kaduna) during the February 23rd Presidential election.
El-Rufai, who was at the presidential villa to meet with President Buhari, said he thought the report was a huge joke but was surprised to hear that it was real.
According to him, “Atiku won Kaduna State in the 2019 presidential election, but that must be in his (Atiku’s) dream.
He said; “Well, I heard about that. Initially, I thought it was a joke but when I checked I saw clearly that he said he won Kaduna. It must be in his dreams.
“Let me say this without any fear of contradiction, since President Buhari started contesting for the presidency since 2003, he has never lost Kaduna. So, PDP has never won elections in Kaduna from 2003, even with a sitting governor in 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015.
“It has never happened. I don’t know what will happen that Atiku will win Kaduna in these elections this time. He lost Kaduna; he lost very badly, even though about 100,000 votes he claimed to have got were added because elections were conducted without card reader in some parts of the state, that’s how he even got up to the 400,000.
“He has lost Kaduna, he will always lose Kaduna, he will lose Kaduna 10 more times because he has never won Kaduna in any presidential elections,” El-Rufai claimed.
When reminded that the results were from INEC server, the governor said, “well, I don’t know about INEC server, it must be Atiku’s server. I don’t know about INEC server, we don’t know how they had access to it, they will tell us during the tribunal proceedings what is this server and how they got access to it and how they got their numbers.
“You do not go to court in an election petition by quoting INEC server or any other server. Anyone can create a server, I can go and buy it, it is a piece of equipment and call it INEC server. But that does not mean that it amounts to anything, we are guided by the electoral act and the evidence act and other enabling legislation and he has to prove his case.
“But anyone can make claims; we live in the age of fake news and fake claims. Anyone can make claims but you have to prove it.”
The electoral body had announced Buhari as winner of the election in Kaduna State, having polled 993,482 to defeat PDP’s Atiku, who polled 613,318.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday lamented the current state of disunity in Nigeria, stressing that Nigeria was not as divided as it is today, during the civil war.
Obasanjo spoke at a one-day “2019 annual retreat/conference and general meeting of members” of Association of Chief Audit Executives of Banks in Nigeria, ACAEBIN, in Abeokuta.
The former President said: “When we look at this country today, even during the civil war, we were not as divided as we are today. Today, we are in danger if we don’t take partnership serious. Partnership within our people, within Africa and the rest of the world.”
According to the former President, the private sector is the engine room of development in any country.
“As Chief audit, it is defined by virtue of what you are doing as a profession. If the audit is awry, banking business will not be right. What I want to emphasise is that, it is a must as Nigerians and as Africans, that we have certain elements that we have to take very serious which I put as five Ps.
“The first is politics which is governance. Unless we get governance right, any other thing we are trying to do will not be right. The second is population. Our population at independence, we were estimated to be 45 million, but today we are 200 million. By the year 2050, we will be over 400 million. Normally, population should be an asset but looking at the condition we are in now, when in the North-East of Nigeria, the percentage of adult literacy is about 53 percent, you can see that, we have a problem and education is basic in all human development.
“How do we think of setting education to be useful? Those people who will make our education over 400 million in some years time are already born, and you cannot unborn them, so the problem is here, what do we do?
“We must provide education for them, housing, healthcare, education for them, and more importantly, employment for them.
“One thing that I believe will help us is to provide employment, and probably part of what will help us is agric business. And you in the baking business must pay attention to how we build the agric sector.
“I am not talking of horticulture, I am talking of the whole value chain, from land preparation. And if we are able to get that right, maybe we will be able to get the issue of employment for our teeming youths right, we will be able to get even the issue of rural development right, we will be able to get the issue if the gap between the have and have not right.
“The next one is prosperity, I am not being bothered about Nigeria’s poverty or Africa poverty. We have everything to generate wealth. We have God’s given resources under our soil. We also have human resources. If we bring these together, then, we will definitely get prosperity.
“Another one is protection, that is security. People must be protected in all aspect. Protection of lives, protection of property and the people can actually feel that they are protected,” stressed Obasanjo.

What El-Rufai said about Atiku, INEC’s server, his ‘accident’ after meeting Buhari on Friday

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has mocked the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, for claiming he defeated President Muhammadu Buhari in the state.

Atiku had told the election petition tribunal, that Kaduna was among the states where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in connivance with the All Progressives Congress (APC), robbed him of his victory.

But speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with Buhari on Friday, El-Rufai said Atiku had never won in the north-west state since he started contesting presidential election.

“Well, I heard about that. Initially, I thought it was a joke and when I checked I saw clearly that he said he won Kaduna. It must be in his dreams.

El-Rufai also disclosed that he was in the Presidential Villa, to inform Buhari that he was never in an accident recently.

“I came to see Mr. President after my re-election as governor because immediately after the election I took a break. I came back to report to him that I was not involved in an accident, I’m alive, I am not in coma and also to discuss other issues related to my state.

“My advice to everyone in Nigeria is to avoid forwarding stories that have not been verified. Social media provides platform for disseminating information but it is also a platform for dissemination of lies and hatred. We should be very careful that we don’t use this platform to advance the cause of the enemies of this country.

“I was never involved in any accident, I was not near any accident, in fact at a time I was supposed to be involved in an accident, I was in an aircraft going to another country. But somebody sat and concocted this story and we are trying to trace who started it. Because, criminal proceedings can be initiated against the person. Sometimes it is very difficult to know who started it but we are on it. My advice is that we should rely on reliable news medium, not just any platform or any blog. Unless we hear something from a very reliable news medium, we should be reluctant to begin sharing it as if it is true,” El-Rufai added.

Goodbye to APC, As Atiku Storms Tribunal with the Biggest Evidence/Witnesses
A few days after the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of the February 23, Presidential election, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his party, have finally filed a petition challenging Buhari’s re-election. Atiku and his party are challenging Buhari’s re-election, on the grounds of alleged massive rigging, malpractices, and non-compliance substantially with the Electoral Laws. In the filed petition, on Monday evening, the main part of the prayers was for Atiku to be declared as the winner of the February 23, Presidential election. Also, they prayed alternatively, that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal nullifies the poll, and orders for a fresh election that will be conducted in line with the provisions of the Electoral Laws. Respondents in the suit are the All Progressives Congress, APC, Buhari, and INEC. Although, a copy of the petition could not be obtained at the time of filing in this report, the PDP National Legal Adviser, Emmanuel Enoidem, confirmed to Journalists at the Court of Appeal, venue of the Tribunal, that the petition has been filled. Enoidem said that the PDP and its Presidential Candidate, have already assembled a powerful Legal team, comprising of 20 Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SANs, and other retinue of Lawyers, who will establish the facts of the petition. He also disclosed that over 400 witnesses have been assembled to testify during the hearing of the petition. In collaboration, Mike Ozekhome, SAN, further affirmed that the petition was strong, solid, and unassailable.
